My job is to teach you how to make fitness your own. How to make it more than just and activity, but a mechanism that you can use as a spring pad to achieve great things. I hold myself to the same high standards/accountability that I hold my athletes to, determined to not just reach but surpass my goals and aspirations. 		<description><![CDATA[Manny has been pretty active his entire life. He was a three sport varsity starter in high school. After high school, he stayed active as a cadet in the University of San Francisco’s army ROTC program. Manny was first introduced to crossfit in the the summer of 2010 when he was stationed at Fort Huachuca, Arizona. After getting reassigned back to the Bay Area, he looked up nearby crossfit gyms and came across CF San Mateo. He was instantly hooked. After countless hours spent working on everything from thrusters and double unders, to squat cleans and muscle ups, he received his CF L1 trainer certificate in April 2012 and his CF mobility certificate in July. He is also Army level 1 combatives certified. When not coaching athletes or lifting massive amounts of weights, Manny enjoys following the SF Giants, strumming the guitar, making fun of the other coaches, cycling, playing video games and nerding out to the original Star Wars films. It is possible to reminiscence over every WIN of 2012 but it would take more than this page could hold! Every athlete has a story to tell; barriers broken, mountains climbed and stereotypes challenged. It&#8217;s inspiring to be around you guys everyday! Our coaches work tirelessly to help each athlete realize his/her own goals. If you&#8217;ve hit a PR in a lift, race or even hit your goal weight, thank your coach. Next time you&#8217;re in the gym, give them a hug! We are professional CrossFit coaches. We do what we love and love what we do! However, it wouldn&#8217;t be possible without such an awesome community of athletes. So, thank you again for an amazing 2012. Never Let It Rest, Brendon Fit and Lean Thanksgiving Challenge Winners! Our winners of the Fit and Lean Thanksgiving Challenge was Team Bone Crushers! De and Leah took the men&#8217;s and women&#8217;s trophies. De lost 30lbs (6% body fat) and Leah lost 6lbs (2% body fat). Congrats guys! 3rd Annual Thanksgiving Day Chipper WOD!  Get your Thanksgiving started our right and make a little extra room for those sweet potatoes! Thursday November, 22nd at 9am, we&#8217;ll be celebrating our 3rd annual Thanksgiving Day Chipper. Bring your family, kids and out of town guests and join us for a fun workout! This will be our only class for the day. Holiday Gym Closings  We will be closed Friday November 23rd and Saturday November 24th for the Thanksgiving Holiday. Introducing runcoach Partnership   We are very excited to rollout a brand new program for all CrossFit San Mateo Team Elite members.  In an effort to provide the most effective, most personalized endurance training, we&#8217;ve partnered with runcoach. Tom McGlynn, runcoach founder, was a former coach for Marc and I on the Nike Farm Team and has created a terrific web-based guidance program.  This program has helped over 15,000 recreational runners improve their performance by an average of 7% (4 hour marathon to 3:45).  Not only does this platform assign you a completely personalized schedule based on your running goals, background and running days, it also logs your progress. Each time you record race results, the system will automatically update to keep you training at the perfect level. Genius! Coach Marc will meet with all trainees twice a week and we will target a variety of Bay Area races throughout the year.  You will be able to check your running assignments from an iPhone app or any web browser and review a variety of plyometrics and running drills videos on the site.  We aim to have this rolled out by January 1st and will start taking sign-ups immediately.  We initially want to limit the group to 12 trainees so if you are interested please let me know ASAP.  The cost is $50/month. &#160; Please contact Marc@crossfitsanmateo.com to sign up and for more info! &#160; Monthly Nutritional Seminars and Wellness FX Blood Draw December 1st! As Foundations in our movements and intensity is mandatory for all new athletes, so is nutrition. Diet is the keystone of health and fitness. As they say, &#8220;You can&#8217;t outwork a bad diet.&#8221; Nutrition makes up 90% of our health, arguably more. That&#8217;s why we take it seriously! At CrossFit San Mateo, you have an amazing amount of support at your fingertips to guide and coach you towards proper nutrition and true health. This year, we brought in the revolutionary wellness program, Wellness FX, that can give an introspective look at health and disease in your body through blood evaluation. Now, we&#8217;re bringing back our monthly nutritional seminars. Designed for our Foundations athletes, it&#8217;s opened to anyone in the gym who is interested in primal/paleo eating. <p>Tom McGlynn, runcoach founder, was a former coach for Marc and I on the Nike Farm Team and has created a terrific web-based guidance program.  This program has helped over 15,000 recreational runners improve their performance by an average of 7% (4 hour marathon to 3:45).  Not only does this platform assign you a completely personalized schedule based on your running goals, background and running days, it also logs your progress. Each time you record race results, the system will automatically update to keep you training at the perfect level. Genius!</p>
<p>Coach Marc will meet with all trainees twice a week and we will target a variety of Bay Area races throughout the year.  You will be able to check your running assignments from an iPhone app or any web browser and review a variety of plyometrics and running drills videos on the site.  We aim to have this rolled out by January 1st and will start taking sign-ups immediately.  We initially want to limit the group to 12 trainees so if you are interested please let me know ASAP.  The cost is $50/month.</p></div>
